What a fun session we had! Love the idea of this time all about the baby. We always say there are less pictures of each child in the birth order and often the baby ends up with next to none. This session was all about spending time together at home the way they usually do. Hair, nails, books and all the things this soon to be 4 year enjoys right now.

Thanks for allowing me to share in some special home time. These pictures make me smile because I know she will look back and know how much she was loved:) Enjoy!!!

Hope you all had a great holiday season!! I enjoyed some family time and much needed R&R. As much as you can have when hosting family, cooking, shopping, wrapping, having the kids home from school and the normal hustle that comes along with the holidays:)

I am excited January and the new year is here! I started off my photography season last week when I met this precious little boy. He arrived just 2 days before Christmas. What a sweet baby! Just adorable and I feel so lucky to be able to capture this special time. I think we got some fantastic shots and picking just a few was nearly impossible. Here are a few highlights from the day.

I am posting my final holiday session of 2011. What a great and busy season it has been! Thank you to all of my fabulous new and returning clients. It was an honor to document your families this year:)

My final session was this adorable boy. Eighteen months and on his own mission. This is the third time I have photographed him but the first time on his feet:) Gotta love it when they have their own agenda. Often some of favorite images are those dictated by the kids. These sessions keep me on toes and make the great shots all that more exciting. Enjoy a few shots that made me smile this week!

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope that you all have a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday today! It is always nice to have a day filled with family, food, fun and football:) I am on my way for a few days of R&R and had to post a few highlights from my session last week. After 2 rain outs we finally got the session in:) Mom and I were beginning to wonder if it was going to happen. But this day mother nature was on our side. A bit chilly but no problem for these adorable kids.

Plan B

Well sometimes things don't go exactly as planned. After deciding on what would be the right spot for the shoot, the universe had different plans for the day. Got a call from mom about the time our shoot was to begin that their car had died on the way to the session. The kids are dressed, dogs in the car, it was a beautiful day and getting another date on the calendar would have been difficult as we worked hard to come up with this one. So Mom said we are getting a ride home, we are going to have to do it at our house.

What I absolutely love and makes me smile even as I write this entry, Mom says the moment I step out of the car, well there is your blog story:) Love the sense of humor even in what was a stressful time. Well sometimes things don't go as planned but maybe for the better. I know they were worried about if their yard was a good spot to take pictures. But I love some of the shots we got at home. The park would have been great but this time our Plan B was as good as it gets.

The majority of my sessions these days are with children which I love. But it is always a fun change for me to spend some time photographing young adults . Especially two as pretty as these ladies! I am fortunate as this is the third time I have had the opportunity. It doesn't seem possible but they just keep getting prettier and prettier:) Both in college now and doing so great!

When Wardrobe Meets Location

I am busy at work getting all of my holiday sessions shot and processed. We have been so lucky with warm shooting days and lots of fall color. Hard to believe Thanksgiving is just around the corner. My kids asked me this morning why we don't have any Thanksgiving decorations around the house? My typical response these days....mommy is getting to it:)

I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet family about a week ago. They were so laid back and easy going. Made the process so relaxing and fun. Just loved this little girl's skirt and denim jacket. It was a perfect compliment to our location. Gotta love it when that happens:)

Fall Is In the Air

Fall is in the air and holiday sessions are in full swing. People are always asking me when booking sessions this time of year, when is peak leaf season. Well it is now. It varies a week give or take around Halloween. But those that picked this week are benefiting from the color.

I am so glad to have this family back again this year. It is always a treat to share photography with clients that love and appreciate the process. Mom loves taking pictures and makes annual photos a priority on her to do list. I hope you love your sneak peak. It was great to spend the time with you and I am excited to share your first look. Welcome to Atlanta

This summer we were lucky enough to welcome the "L" family to our neighborhood. They made the big move from Boston for work. First time living in the southeast, I am sure at times they have felt a world away. What a delightful family and wonderful addition to our community. I think they are enjoying the change and definitely have no complaints on the weather. It has been such a pleasure getting to know them. My little guy is definitely loving having his new friend in their kindergarten class.

Back on Track....Almost!

I apologize for my blog absence as my computer world was turned upside down this week. Slowly my process down is an understatement! My computer checked out of this world and refused to process another picture. Pretty much a sign of my busy holiday schedule, I know how it feels:) As a result, I had to buy and my husband rebuild a new one making all of my day to day tasks more difficult as everything had to be set up again. It appears I am almost back on track and happy to be feeling normal again. Hope to make up for it this week so stay tuned.

Last weekend, I met the "O" family in town for a family shoot. Always love having families return and seeing how much the kids have grown. We landed a gorgeous morning and the kids were super sports...up for anything. Thanks for coming back to play with me again this year!! Enjoy your first look at a few of my favorites from the day:)

Had to document the love of princesses and the her beautiful Snow White costume for Halloween. What a cutie! Gotta love that Mom thought to throw in an apple. We had some fun with that!

Did We Get Anything?

Well I am in full holiday session mode now. I filled up the last of my fall 2011 sessions and am preparing for the busy weekends ahead!

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting up with the "C" family. We had a great time at the park balancing fun and photos. It is not uncommon for Mom and Dad to walk away and question, "did we get anything?" There are a lot of moving parts during the sessions. Makes it all the more gratifying to share the fun shots we get during our time together.

Home Sweet Home

This couple is one of the lucky ones. Their house sold and sold fast. After months of renting an apartment, they finally finished building their dream house and moved in about a month ago. Of course that is where we had to have the session. It is just beautiful and made a perfect setting to document these special first days in their new home!

I have been so fortunate to document these kiddos over the years. This was our 5th session and I have enjoyed watching them grow. Thanks for inviting me back again this year. So happy to share a few of my favorites from the day!

For a Good Cause

This family was the winner of a silent auction item I donated for an event supporting Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Always so great when you can support a local charity and get some new family photos out of it. I really enjoyed my time with the "Q" family. Wanted to share some photos from a session with the Hall family last weekend. It was my first session ever where I took the kids off and we did the entire session away from Mom and Dad. It was fun and different to go this route as it allowed me to take some creative liberties and go with the kid's flow. We kept it easy, casual and close to home. Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing this super family! Always love the dynamic of larger families and the energy that comes with it. The big sisters were so great and patient with their brothers in making sure everyone was doing what they could. Thanks for being such great helpers and good sports. Look Whose Six

With our babies we always think about the first year milestones for pictures to capture all of the changes that are happening so fast. Along the way as our kids grow, we often don't think about documenting special times as they get bigger. 6 is the year for pictures in this family. Think about it, starting kindergarten and most importantly may be one of the last shots before loosing those sweet baby teeth.

Had a blast as always with the "H" family. They are always good for some laughs and thanks to Dad he usually provides some new techniques for getting smiles. Enjoy your sneak peaks!

Just Had to Share

Was editing my pictures from a baby shoot a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with this shot all over again. I was commenting at the session how beautiful her eye lashes were and really wanted to find a way to capture that. I love the very shallow depth of field in this picture. To all you camera people out there, the aperture setting on this shot was 2.0. Which means the plane of focus is very small. Since I shot down the only thing in focus is her lashes. Just fun!

This weekend I met up with the "G" family for a little photo shoot. I was so excited to get my camera on these beautiful girls. We had the most perfect picture evening! The light and evening temperatures were a photographer's dream. I probably could have spent the entire night there but there were football games to be watched, dinner to be had and knowing when to say when is important :)

The Show Must Go On

Well I am back from a small summer hiatus. I apologize for the blog neglect! I took the last few weeks of school to spend with the kids. My youngest just started kindergarten so I wanted to enjoy every last drop of summer. And we did:)

Sessions are beginning and in full swing again now that school is in session and the holidays are just around the corner. I met baby "E" at the park to document 6 months. What a cutie!! She was a delight to photograph and thankfully cooperated very quickly. It seems I have developed a bee allergy in my older years. About 15 minutes into the session I was stung. Thankfully me and not her. Which was no big deal until I proceeded to break out into the worst case of hives....which later landed me in the ER. But we persevered and finished the shoot until she, and I, could take no more.

Thanks for being such a good baby and understanding mom! Regardless of the crazy, I think we got some great shots. And thankfully I was behind the camera:) Enjoy your first look!

Friends from Home

We just returned from a great vacation back in my home state of Delaware. I only make it home once a year these days but so love the time I get to spend there. My parents have retired to the beach area so we are now fortunate to have a great vacation spot to come home to.

We had lots of visiting to do this year. Seeing my friends is always a highlight. I made a point to see as many as possible and had a great time seeing my kids with their kids. Here are a few highlights from some of our visits. Thanks everyone for making time during your busy lives to come and see us. We had a blast!

Funny thing about this picture is I had a great spot out on the rocks just beyond this sign. But sweet Alex was very concerned because the sign clearly stated we were not allowed beyond this point. Since I can appreciate a good rule follower myself, we opted for here and I made sure to include the sign for the memory.

Our Family Has Grown.....

...and I have a new subject!! One week ago we adopted a sweet little kitten. After loosing our cat of 17 years in February my 9 year old has been on a quest to adopt a new pet. After lots of research on http://www.petfinder.com/ we made the plunge. Her name is Ally and she is just as sweet as can be! A true delight to have around. Welcome to the family!

Came home the other day to find sweet Ally in amongst the sea of stuffed animals. She is such a cuddle bug. I guess when no one is home these will do:)

Last week I was fortunate to meet a sweet little baby girl just 5 weeks old. Mom and Dad were given a newborn baby session as a baby shower gift. I think the ultimate gift but I am a little biased:) It was such a treat to meet this little baby and her parents. She was a delight and a perfect little subject. Balancing her alert and sleepy time so we could get it all. Way to go baby!

What a treat it was to see this family again! It has been a year and a half since our last photography session and it was wonderful to see them. The last time I took their picture the boys had crew cuts so I was blown away at how blond they were:) And how big they have gotten. Big victory for us was that little "C" managed to keep all of his teeth for our shoot. They are officially free to fall out now:)

Summer is Here

School is out and summer is finally here!! The last days of school are always so crazy with all of the "last of this" and "last of that". I know we are all excited to move onto our new summer schedules, vacations and activities.

I recently spent some time with the "K" family. They welcomed the first week of June with a clear calendar and a photo shoot. I so enjoyed my time with them. It was easy and such a relaxed family session. I am pretty sure I found a new calling for these two children.....modeling! It was effortless for them and so much fun for me:)

How I Love to Watch Them Grow

One of the best parts of my job, it watching these sweet children grow. I love to see my clients each year. It is always amazing how fast the time has gone and how quickly these kids grow! Pretty in Pink

There is nothing like being two and coming into your own. You are learning the world and discovering just how amazing and powerful you really are. I was very excited to photograph these girls last week. Mom had these two perfectly outfitted in pink for the day. Including this super sweet table for tea. Sometimes convincing little ones this is fun and really something they want to do can be challenging. But it makes the good shots all that more special and rewarding.

Sessions usually last 1-2 hours. But I always tell parents the kids are usually the ones to decide when it is over and not me. This next picture is a perfect example of sweet "K" letting me know it was officially time to go home:)

Happy 9th Birthday!

My sweet girl just celebrated her 9th Birthday. Because in her world the celebration would not be complete without animals, we headed to the Yellow River Game Ranch. I packed lots of goodies for the animals and the kids had a blast feeding them right out of their hands. So much fun! It was a super party and just wanted to share a few from the day.

First Communion Just Days Away

I recently had the pleasure of meeting these adorable second graders from Holy Redeemer Catholic School. They are all preparing for their First Holy Communion in a couple of weeks. What a treat it was for me to capture this special time for Stephanie and Jay. Just two months shy of their wedding day in June, I was thrilled to be a part of their engagement session. Spring is Here!

What Milestones?

Just wanted to share a picture of my niece I took last week. We had a small photo shoot to document she is six months old now! She is growing so fast and has absolutely blown me away at how strong she is. My kids were still tipping over when sitting up at 6 months. Sweet little Avery is crawling and even trying to pull up to a stand..... at 6 months old! Wish I had time to post more pictures but just wanted to make sure I shared at least one of this cutie:)

I enjoyed a special morning with little "C" last week. He is 6 months old and it was time to document this milestone. As the youngest of four, he has grown very used to sharing time with Mom, Dad, toys, and just about everything. But this day was all about him. No siblings just "C", Mommy and me. What a sweet boy! I just couldn't get over his beautiful eyes and lashes!!

Last Friday, one of my dearest friends welcomed a new baby girl. Her name is Emry Catherine and she is just beautiful!! I had the pleasure of stopping in for a little visit yesterday. This is my last session blog for 2010. I have been busy at work this year and the season is complete. With editing, cards and orders, I will officially finish my photography work with about one week to shop before the kids are out of school and all of the holiday festivities begin. It has been a great year with tons of great families and sweet kids. Thank you so much to all my clients and all my blog readers.... I appreciate the support!

This winter I am hoping to get a little personal:) I have not been the best about taking pictures of my own kids this year. On my days off sometimes the last thing I want to do is pick up my camera again. So sad! Anyway I am hoping to change that in the off season. I am planning to blog a little bit about us and our holidays over the next month or so on my shooting hiatus. So stay tuned and enjoy a little look into my family.

What Makes You Smile?

When planning for this session, Mom and I discussed the hopes for the day. She explained that they had not one picture of the girls together smiling. I think that is a challenge for most parents. We often think is it too much to ask? All I want is one picture of you together but usually someone is not in the mood and the mission is often derailed. I loved the challenge of trying to capture these sweet girls together. I will not lie, they gave me a run for my money:) I tried all the tricks I had in the book but still had a little trouble getting them to both smile and look at the same time. At one point, Mom, Dad and I were laughing to the point of tears but still couldn't get the girls to budge. (For the record, I love a good belly laugh. ) Well when I got home to review the pictures and saw this first shot, I smiled. I smiled knowing we did it and I couldn't wait to show it to them!

Four Fun

Last week I was lucky to spend some time with the "W" family. With four little ones -5, 4 and twin 19 month olds - I knew it would be an adventure. What I didn't know was how sweet and great Mom and Dad would be. They were so easy going and it was so much fun to photograph this family. Yes, we definitely had our challenges in getting everyone on the same page. I believe that just comes with the territory and four small children. But with great challenges come greater rewards.

Flirting with me....

Last weekend was all giggles with these sweet children. They absolutely loved teasing me and I enjoyed every minute of it too. We had so much fun with lots of silly talk. Dad said little "H" was totally flirting with me which was so flattering. It has been awhile since someone that cute tried to get my attention:) This family is just precious and I so enjoyed the time I spent with them.

Who Knew?

Time continues to fly, no matter how hard I try to stop it. With the holidays around the corner and sessions winding down for the year, it doesn't seem possible that Thanksgiving is less than 2 weeks away and Christmas not far to follow behind that. There is always the debate when booking my sessions for fall, when will the leaves be in full color? The last three years it has been all of the board. But we are amazed by the warm fall we have had and hence the final sessions of the season, have benefited with great color in the trees. Who knew this would be peek week for color this year?

This adorable family probably landed one of the colder days of the year. I don't think the boys minded too much. With their superman capes, they could conquer anything. They were sweet and silly and I loved seeing them again. It has been two years since our last shoot and they have grown so big and so handsome!! I am sure "are you kidding me" is exactly what these two sweet little boys were thinking on the morning of Halloween. With dreams of candy, costumes and a day of fun ahead of them there was nothing in their way now.....except pictures! Well they survived with a little stash of goodies to tide them over. Big Days on the Horizon

Last weekend I spent a little time with the "B" family to document some big days for each of them. They are celebrating or preparing for a high school graduation, sweet 16 and an end to elementary school and off to 6th grade. It is so amazing how fast these days go. What a beautiful family they are. What I wouldn't do for those eyes!!! As a brown eyed girl, I only dreamed of being so lucky! Dark hair and blue eyes.... well that just not fair to the rest of us:)

FSU Flashback

I recently had the pleasure of seeing an old friend again. Mom is a Tri Delt pledge sister of mine from way back in the Florida State days. Feels like a lifetime ago! It was great to see her again and meet her sweet little boy....and husband too:) With such busy lives, it was fun to spend some time catching up and getting to know her baby. "N" is just about five months old and is such an adorable little boy.

Happy Halloween!! Hope it was a wonderful night for everyone. We had an awesome holiday this year. My little ones were totally into it at 5 and 8. We had a record number of trick or treaters and my two came home with tons of their own candy! All is very right in their worlds tonight. It was such a perfect evening with friends and is hard to believe tomorrow will be November 1st. October treated us so well. I cannot imagine a prettier month and we can only hope November has a few more of these days in store for us.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting the "K" family. Actually our hosts for our super Halloween party this evening. Thanks guys for coordinating....it was so much fun! Love to Watch Them Grow

I just love the opportunity I have with this career to watch children grow. This was my 5th session with these adorable twins that just turned 3. Seeing how their personalities evolve from year to year is just amazing!! They are full of life and ready for whatever fun the world has in store. It was such a treat to see them again. I love this family and cherish my opportunity each year to get to know the kids all over again.

Safe and Sound

I recently met up with the "G" family for a session to capture this special time. Dad returned home this summer from Afghanistan where he was stationed through the military. He was gone when little "B" was born this spring so these were the first official family pictures. "B" is 6 months old now and it is time to capture this new chapter in their lives. These children were so precious and sweet. We found this field and I just loved photographing them there. It was the perfect place to document "A's" love of twirling.

We are so glad you are home safe and sound and appreciate all of your time and personal sacrifices. Enjoy a few highlights from the day!

Fill Those Frames

Many of us are guilty of outdated pictures in our home. I can definitely put myself in that category. Once the frame is filled and placed out, it is dusted and left to sit for years to come. To the point in which we even stop looking at the picture inside. I am going to challenge myself this winter to spend a few minutes to replace some outdated photos of my little ones with some more recent shots. Consider doing it with me. It is a very inexpensive way to face lift your space and keep it from feeling dated. Let's get those pictures off our computers and out where we can enjoy them. Maybe we can add albums to our agenda next year:)

The "R" family just finished a new family room in their home and had some frames to fill. That is were I come along. A perfect way to put the final bow on their brand new room:) It was such a treat to work with them in capturing a new family shot and some pictures of the kids. I hope their pictures will be exactly what they are looking for to finalize their space. I hope you like seeing a few of my favorites from the day!

Multitasking Mom

As mothers our survival on the planet is based on our ability to multitask. That is an understatement with this working mom of three little ones all under the age of 4! A baptism and birthday party were on the agenda for today. Why not all the same guests were coming and to combine the two made perfect sense. Not to mention these siblings are quite fond of each other and I am sure they would not have wanted it any other way. First stop was the church for D's baptism and then home for a brunch and Minnie Mouse second birthday party.

So glad that I could share in both on this special day. It was a pleasure to be a part of all three baptisms. Enjoy a few highlights!!

Bikes and Baseball

I had the pleasure of spending an evening with the "L" family last weekend. It was a beautiful day for pictures as October is treating us all very well in Georgia these days. "R" is 7 and the goal was to keep the session relaxed and casual to represent him today. What a cutie!! He is such a sweet boy with a beautiful smile:) We wanted to capture a few of his favorite things right now which are baseball, cycling and paper airplanes. It was lots of fun experimenting and trying new shots. I always tell kids sessions are my idea of a playdate. Thanks "L" family for a fun evening. Here is a little sneak peak into our time together. Troy and Katy

I recently had the privilege of photographing Katy and Troy's wedding. What an honor it was to share in their special day. I met Katy at 8:30 for the start of her day. She was relaxed and easy going from that moment and stayed that way the entire day. I was so impressed! These two were just adorable and so in love. It was an absolutely beautiful day from start to finish.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the "P" family. In the spring, they had purchased a session at a Roswell Friends event in support of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. The goal was relaxed and candid pictures. I love the results of sessions by the water. There is just something about these settings that turn the focus for clients from me to their environment. Which I LOVE! The kids had a blast and that is always so nice to see. It is a new day when kids are not ready for a photo shoot to be over:)

Ask and You Shall Receive

I have been dying for quite sometime to do a rustic shoot at a barn type location. Since I do not own a farm, I have just been hoping that someone who lives on a farm will want a session at home. When Kelly expressed an interest in this type of shoot, I was thrilled but where to go became the question. After hunting some public locations, there was just no place that had the feel we were looking for. Kelly passes this property on her way to work. With a tiny bit of encouraging from me, she knocked on their door and asked if we could take some pictures on their property....and they said yes!

Just to put us in the mood, they did have two donkeys which were so cute and very curious about us. I am posting way more pictures than I have limited myself to but I just had to share. Enjoy the sneak peak!

Was it wrong of me that I did not mention to them that the donkey was curious and approaching from behind. Couldn't help it...just loved the shot!

I met up with the "D" family for some new photos last weekend. Mom is a college buddy and I have had the pleasure of photographing her kids annually for the past few years. Usually we have our shoot in August but busy schedules pushed us back a month this year. I am guessing they may not go back as September is a great time of year for pictures. The kids are just adorable and I cherish this special time where I get to know them just a little bit better.

I had the pleasure of photographing the "W" family last weekend. Dad's birthday is coming up and the original idea was to surprise him with a new picture of the kids. After some consideration, Mom decided to bring him in on the plan and take advantage of the time with me. I am so glad she did! We started at their home and finished down on the river. It is always such a fun shoot to get down in the water and explore. Sessions where we allow the kids to be kids always result in the most relaxed and candid photos.

Family First

There are many reasons why families decides it is time for new pictures. The "G' family had a clear objective.....family pictures. Mom said she wanted to focus this session on new family pictures and sibling shots. It always amazes me when I go back through my family pictures from the year how few I actually have of the whole family. Not mention I am not in many :) Great family shots are so few and far between and I loved the idea of just focusing on those.

Thank you "G' family for a great shoot. What wonderful subjects you all were!! We officially got the pictures in before the twins, who just started kindergarten, lost teeth!! Fall is on the Way!

Last weekend I met up with the "T" family who had purchased a silent auction session at a St. Jude the Apostle Catholic School event in the spring. It was a pleasant morning in comparison to the hot summer days. It was one of the first times I have noticed that fall will be here before we know it. What delightful children and a super sweet family. Mom and I are both FSU alumni but did not know each other. When time permits we will have to figure out where our paths may have crossed along the way.

Gotta Love Newborn Babies

My sweet little niece is 2 weeks old and I went over last weekend to take some newborn photos. She is such a little doll and we had so much fun capturing this fleeting time. Final Days of Summer

I guess it is fair to say that summer is nearly over. With one week to go for us here in Fulton County and many other schools already under way, it is nearly time to look ahead toward fall. I am not sure where the summer has gone but it was a good one. I have had a lot of great sessions this summer and thank you to all who braved one of the hottest summers in quite some time.

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting the "H" family for a session here in Roswell. It was a warm day like many other but you would never know it by looking at these pictures. I'm an Aunt.....

..... and totally in love!! I am proud to announce that I welcomed this week a niece!! Her name is Avery and she was born on 8-9-10 weighing 6 pounds 13oz. Isn't that a cool birthday?! She is my first biological niece and we are all so excited to have her here in our family. What an unbelievably special time this is. I wanted to share a few shots I took the other day when I met her for the first time. She was so alert and incredibly beautiful!

They Came From Near and Far

The opportunity to photograph special events is such a blessing. I am amazed every time that I have the chance to be part of someone's special day how honored I feel to be present. This past weekend I was delighted to be able to document "L's" baptism. This little guy's great grandmother came all the way from Greece for the big day. He is such a precious little baby and could not have been sweeter.

Where it all began!

We headed back to where it all began . We shot this session on the steps of Naylor Hall where Mom and Dad were married. Doesn't it seem like just yesterday:) It was another hot one but so fun to document the family together at this location. Mom and I had been planning this spot for some time so it was great to finally get our chance. I love this first one of "C". It was my first real crack at photographing her. What a beautiful family! Thanks "H" family for a great session. As always it was so fun spending the time with you!!

Beating the Heat

I am back from vacation and excited to share some shots from a shoot I had prior to leaving. It was so great to see this family again. I had the pleasure of shooting "J" when he was six weeks old. It is hard to believe a year has gone by and he is turning one!!! We were in the middle of a streak of very hot days. We met at the park and got some great shots but soon enough it became too hot to continue. We finished the session at home with a half naked baby and a hose:) What fun!!!

Location Location Location

At every session there is always the question of where to have the shoot. In particular with large family shoots, it can be difficult to find a venue that has lots of options for positioning many people. Well for this particular shoot, that was not a problem. We were so fortunate as to be granted access to the private grounds of Dean's Gardens. This 40 acre estate was unbelievable with gardens and stairs as far as the eye could see. We were all like kids in a candy store when it came to moving about the property and through many of the gardens looking for fun places to take pictures. It was a dream come true for a photographer and I am not sure when in my life I will be so fortunate as to have access to a residence like this again.

Thank you so much to the "M" family for sharing this wonderful experience. They were such troopers as it was very hot and there was a lot of walking involved. It was such a blast spending the time together. I only wish we had about 3 more hours.....although the boys may not agree with me on that:) Enjoy a little look back on this special evening. Time is Flying

Where is the summer going? It is hard to believe it is July already!! Last week, I shot this ADORABLE family that drove in from Athens for our shoot. We scheduled it months ago and it is always amazing how fast these sessions come around. These kids are not only super cute but incredibly sweet and a treat to photograph. It was so much fun to meet them and spend that time capturing their personalities.

Who doesn't love a lake getaway? There is just something so peaceful about time spent by the water and last week I enjoyed a morning at Lake Allatoona. This super family was all together for the first time since the newest addition arrived just a few weeks ago. Their lake house made the perfect setting for family pictures. They are such a great group and were good sports about taking lots of pictures. I am so glad to have met them all and had the opportunity to document this special time in their family. The Wedding of Shaun and Shannon

One week ago, I was fortunate enough to photograph the wedding of Shaun and Shannon. In town from Ohio, they were married in her aunt's beautiful backyard garden. I believe when temperatures reached 90 there may have been some question about why they did not decide to get married at home. But by the looks of these photographs, I am sure you will agree they made the right choice!! It was an absolutely beautiful day and I feel so lucky to have been a part of this family affair. Although I just met them for the first time the day before their wedding, I felt very much like a part of this great family and enjoyed every minute of my day. Summer is Here!

You would never know that summer does not officially start until Monday by the steamy days we have had here in Georgia. Last weekend was no exception and even in the morning hour you could feel it was going to be a hot day. Lucky for me, Dad is a landscaper and we had the session at their home. Which meant A/C and water breaks whenever necessary!! I always love shooting at new locations and enjoyed all the facets to this great yard. School's Out

It's the last week of school here in Georgia. Hard believe summer begins tomorrow! The kids have been working hard all year long and are ready for some time off. I met with "J" last weekend to document the end of another type of school year. After a year of religion classes, she has just completed her First Holy Communion. Way to go!!

100 and Counting!!

It is not everyday you get to be part of a celebration like this. In fact, it was a first for me. This week I attended a 100th birthday party. People often ask if I photograph children of all ages and now I can officially say I do!

What an incredibly special day for this family. They gathered from across the country to honor this Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother. I was so honored to share in the celebration of this beautiful life. Doesn't G.G. make 100 look GREAT! Wouldn't we all love to learn her secrets to aging so well:)

Last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting this great family. They are good friends of ours but our busy lives and separate schools have made getting together more challenging these days. Decisions Decisions

Last weekend I spent some time with this young man preparing for his high school graduation. With just about a month to go, school and sports are all winding down and he is preparing for the next big step ...... college! May 1st is the deadline for making the big decision. Which university to attend? Clemson or the University of South Carolina. I am sure this feels like one of the biggest decisions of his life. Hang in there "R" you can't go wrong! Happy 8th Birthday!!

My daughter turned 8 last weekend!! She absoulety loves animals and really wanted to have an animal party. Her first thought was to have it at the shelter with all of the dogs that needed homes. Since that was not an option and I ruled out her idea of the "bring your pet party", we landed on the Little Red Barn mobile petting zoo http://littleredbarn.us/. The girls had such a great time playing with all of the animals. It was amazing to see my backyard turned into a little farm. It was a big hit and the weather was gorgeous. Happy Birthday sweet girl!! We love you:)

Busy Days Blessed Days

Well two weeks ago, the "C' family welcomed sweet "D" into their family. Making it three babies in three years. Whew, I am tired just typing that sentence. I have been fortunate to be present to capture all three little ones and their first days at home. What an amazing time it is bringing a new baby home. I enjoyed every minute I spent documenting one of his first days at home. They grow so fast and since this little guy was born at 9 lbs. 13oz. he is definitely trying to speed up the process:) Thanks "C' family for allowing me to be part of this precious time. Shining Stars

Last weekend I had such a blast photographing these two girls. They have been taking drama classes and have decided to pursue opportunities in acting. They came to me for new headshots. I loved every minute of photographing these two. There are so many great shots to choose from it was difficult to pick just three a piece. We ended up with lots of smiling pictures but I did decide to post two more serious looks. Pulling off a serious look in a photograph can be very difficult. Especially when everytime we tried they started to giggle:) But these two shots to me look effortless and that is not an easy thing to do. Way to go girls!!

So Big So Fast!

Undoubtedly one of the coolest parts of my job is keeping in touch with families and watching their children grow. I so enjoy seeing them transform in some cases from newborns into little people. This past Sunday I spent the morning with the "S" family. It has been 2 years since I photographed little "S". The last time I photographed him he was just weeks old. Now he is an adorable 2 year boy who loves trucks and balls and if you can believe it knows many of his letters....so smart :) It was so great to see you all again. Thank you for the opportunity. Right at the end of our session, "S" found this puddle. First he just rolled his truck through it but by the end he was jumping and splashing. He may never look at puddles the same way again which may be a challenge for mom. But it sure was fun while it lasted!!

Like Mother Like Daughter

Well I haven't done the best of job posting events from my personal life although I have had the intention to a million times. But this week we took a big step forward in my daughter's life and I wanted to share. At 7 my sweet baby got glasses. I wore glasses my entire life up until a year ago when I had Lasik surgery. She was complaining about not being able to see the chalkboard at school. Well sure enough she needed glasses. It is hard to describe the feeling of knowing she is growing up. I guess I always knew she might need them one day but so soon. It felt a little like when she lost her first baby tooth. I wanted to stop it and put it back. It was a way for her body to tell me she is changing and growing into a big girl.

She feels so super special and cool in her new glasses. We think she looks adorable. Just wanted to share a few pictures from our trip to pick up our first of many pairs of glasses.

Welcome Little "Q"

I recently had the pleasure of meeting new baby "Q" and spending some time with this sweet family. They are relatively new neighbors of mine and I enjoyed the first real opportunity I have had to get to know them. "Q" is two months old and just as sweet as he can be. What a beautiful pair of big blue eyes just like mom. Big brother "W" was lots of fun to play with and even joined in with his camera for some side by side shooting. Loved the company!! Welcome 2010!! I hope everyone rang in the New Year in style. I have my New Year's resolutions set and I hope you do to. This is the second family session that I shot this past Monday. It was a very cold afternoon and with half of the family in from Florida it was quite a shock to the system. Mr. and Mrs. "L" had all of their children and grandchildren together and wanted to capture this time with some new photos. At times getting everyone on the same page proved a bit challenging. But we prevailed and I think ended up with some great shots from the day. It was a pleasure meeting you all. Hope that you are all home now safe and sound. Enjoy your sneak peaks!!

Well I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season. It is hard to believe it is New Year's Eve and tomorrow will be 2010!!! I have been so busy and apologize for neglecting my blog:( I have so many things that I have been meaning to post and I am not sure where the time has gone. I finished my photography season just in time to turn my efforts toward my own holiday shopping and finished in the nick of time.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting two large family sessions. This family was the first of those two sessions. What a blast it is to be with everyone for the holidays. I always wanted to be part of a large family and enjoyed the few hours that I got to the the fifth sister in this family of 5 great women. It is so special to make the time for these large family pictures. This family is spread out from Florida to California. We met up at Vinings Jubilee for a great session. Fashion Forward

Well life is crazy for me today. Nothing new this time of year but I received a call yesterday afternoon to see if I was interested in a ticket to Oprah. Of course I am, I love her. Well the ticket is for Friday so now I have to get my work done and get myself to Chicago by tomorrow night. Not an easy thing to do with work and kids but I am going to try. It is for Oprah after all. I'll fill you in on my trip next week. Wish me luck for on time flights, I have little time to spare :)

I had a blast last weekend photographing these sisters. How pretty are they??? With these two beauties, three super cool outfits and those boots all was right in the world. Girls Just Want to Have Fun

Well I am blogging my final holiday session of the fall. What a crazy ride it has been this year. Thank you to all of my new and returning clients for a great season!!

This session was a ladies only shoot. The session was prompted by the idea of a gift for Dad. With 2 daughters and 3 granddaughters he is surrounded by women. With just one week to go until my holiday shoot cut off, I am amazed at the weather we are having this November. Last year we froze the final few weeks of the photography season and this year I am pleasantly surprised by the gorgeous days we are having. This family was one of the lucky ones to score a beautiful day with fall leaves this year.

I had lots of fun capturing some new family pictures and shots of the kids. What great subjects!! Not only are they beautiful kids and parents but Mom loves photography so the boys were used to being in front of a camera. Coolest Mom Ever

Last weekend, I met up with the "M" family. It has been a number of years since Mom had professional photos done of her son. When he was 4 she had an album made by a photographer that she just loves. But now he is 10 and she is ready to capture him again today. In discussing the shoot we strategized about things we could do to promote relaxed candid portraiture. Since he is 10 now we knew that he would not quickly forget that I was there like the little ones do. This is where she officially became the coolest mom ever. She brought his best friend along to the shoot. The motive was two fold. One because she would love to have some pictures of them together for this new album but also to keep things relaxed. What a difference a friend makes. It was a first for me to have a friend come along but boy was it fun. I so enjoyed capturing the dynamic of the friendship and he helped bring out some great smiles. Keeping Things Even

As parents we work very hard to keep things between our children as even as possible. What one gets the other must get too. Although I am sure when our children are grown they may point out things differently. This photography session is an example of Mom considering an idea for her second child that she had not done for the first. She really wanted to do a collage of close ups for her 7 month hold but didn't have one for her older daughter. She and her best friend came together and had the idea of a joint collage containing close ups of each separately and together. The result was magic! I absolutely love the way the session turned out. Here are just a few!

Tea Time

Earlier this week, I met up with the "C" family. This time of year holiday cards are definitely a priority for shoots. In addition to that, we had a great time documenting some of their current hobbies and interests. I love the free time to play and let moments happen. The kids brought books, a football, stuffed animals and an adorable little tea set. It was great to see you all again and fun to try a new spot. Little "K" wished it could be her backyard. So glad you all felt at home there. I think it shows. Enjoy!

A First.....For Us Anyway

Well today is Halloween!! Where is the time going? Hard to believe we will change the clocks back tonight and November comes tomorrow! I wanted to share a few from a session that I shot last weekend. We actually landed a beautiful day which seem few and far between these days. These are friend's of mine and I was honored when they asked me to take some new pictures for them. It was actually the first time I have had the opportunity to formally photograph them. Our children are very good friends so I know them well but it is always fun to spend the undivided time together. Thanks "H" family for giving me the opportunity. Enjoy a few sneak peaks!

Brothers and Friends

Last weekend I had the pleasure of meeting another great family. Little "C" got out of the car at the beginning of our shoot and informed me very quickly that he and his brother look like twins but they are not. We are just brothers he said. To me they looked as much like brothers as friends!! It was such a pleasure to spend the time with this family and get to know these great kids. I know it has been awhile since your last family pictures. I hope you enjoy an early glimpse at just a few!

R&R

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear R&R? That's right most of us think of rest and relaxation. Well in this case it stands for the names of these adorable twin two year olds. Ironically R&R being the opposite of what you would imagine life with twin two years olds to be. But these two were awesome!! They were such troupers and did such a great job putting up with me. Mom said she felt like she ran a marathon when the shoot was over. That is probably because we did a little bit of chasing. But you know what they say, no pain no gain :) Hope it was worth it. Here are a few of my favorites!

What a Prop!!

In being a children's photographer, I am accustomed to working with props . We use everything from wagons, balls, bubbles, dolls, you name it but this was a first. A very fun and exciting first! Last year when I shot this family we discussed doing a family picture around Dad's motorcycle with sidecar for their Christmas card. I loved the idea of incorporating something a parent loves so much in the shoot. It was a real treat for me to photograph them and incorporate the bike. Hope you enjoy your sneak peaks!

Holiday Time

The holidays are just around the corner and I have been super busy with families taking the time to capture kids in preparation for this special time of year. It is always fun to see everyone again and how much they have grown. This is a great family that I shot last year. It is hard to believe it has been almost a year and a half since our last session. It felt like just yesterday when I saw them. We had so much fun with "E"'s trains and telling stories. The kids have gotten so big and I very much enjoyed seeing how they have grown. We captured Miss "L" just in time as her baby teeth are on the way out. It was great seeing you all again. Enjoy a few highlights and I look forward to sharing the others soon.

It is fun to blog about this family as they are one of my very first clients almost three years ago. It was "D"s newborn session where it all began. They have stuck with me over the years and given me so many opportunities to shoot their family through birthdays and baptisms. Today we were celebrating "K" turning one. HSB Fall Festival

Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of photographing my neighborhood's third annual fall festival. This was my third year as the photographer and what an opportunity to be part of such a great event for our community. It is such a fun time to see friends and neighbors and celebrate with the kids a new season. We barely escaped the rain that day as it threatened all day long and didn't start to drizzle until the breakdown begun....whew! A special thank you to my decor sponsors this year Susan Jankoski and Diane Rochford of Harry Norman. They donated the fall decor of pumpkins and flowers that made for an adorable backdrop for families to have photos taken. Also wanted to thank all of our sponsors and Kelei for organizing the entire event. She did such a great job AGAIN! I absolutely love where I live and these days are the perfect opporunity to celebrate that.

Picture Playdate

Well I recently had the pleasure of a playdate with my Godson "S". I say playdate because for me that's exactly what these sessions are. It was so fun to spend the morning with him. I love the devoted time I get to study and learn about the people in my life. It is a joy for me! He is 20 months old and such a cutie. He was on the move and spent much of the session with his tennis ball close by. These are just a few of my favorites.

American Girls

Last weekend I had a wonderful time with the "H" family at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. In thinking about my photography, I am always working hard to capture children at each phase in their life. I recently decided to try adding a new segment to each session that is specifically focused on where the children are today. It gets away from the posed portion of the sitting and allows them to do what they love. In speaking with their mom she told me their two favorite things right now are American Girl dolls and reading books together. I had so much fun watching them do what they love. They are such great friends and seemed to enjoy the time off from sitting and smiling. Here are just a few images from the day. Thanks "H" family for being my guinea pigs :)

Great Friends Great Weekend

We were so fortunate last weekend to be invited up to our friend's home at Lake Rabun. The forecast was a little bit grim with lots of rain planned for Saturday. That did not dampen our spirits. Who knew you could have so much fun in a day of almost nonstop rain and even a power outage for nearly four hours. With 6 adults and 6 children stuck in a three bedroom house it had all the potential to be a miserable day but it great! It stopped raining for a few hours mid day just enough for a boat ride and chilly dip in the lake. We played games and all had a great time. It felt a little bit like luxury, dry camping around a fire and I loved it! I snapped a few pictures of our friends before heading out on Sunday morning. Thank you "A" family for sharing your great home and the great company!

Tutu Baby

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of shooting 10 month old "E". I missed out on the opportunity to photograph her as a newborn last December but am thrilled I got the chance this year. What a beautiful little girl and so smart too! She studied me much of the time, taking in everything I did. And actually at 10 months old, already has a "smile" she makes for the camera. I say "smile" because she really crinkles her nose and makes this sort of face like she is saying cheese. How does she know to do that already?? Mom had the idea to shoot her in a tutu. She bought the most adorable blue and purple one that will be her Halloween costume this year. Just adorable!
